The Department of Education insists that you should "never have to pay for help with your federal student loans", and if it is offered to you it's a scam. I submit that the true scam here is the student loan industry itself. After more than thirty years of payments, the balance of my loans had capitalized from a relatively modest $30,000 for a graduate degree to over $95,000. Without GradFin, who did an audit and found the balance of my loan should have been forgiven after twenty-five years of qualified payments, they would have gleefully continued to take my money from the grave. Now if I could only get a refund for all the sleepless nights I spent worrying about this debt. Which are countless. I wish I'd found this company sooner. Sure, you can change your own oil, install your own plumbing, cut your own hair, or do your own taxes. But name four people you know who actually do. I paid a one-time fee of $250 for this service, which is a little over half of what my service provider was expecting me to pay every month. For the rest of my life. I recommend GradFin to you, and ask you to in turn to recommend them to anyone who needs them. Sixty-five percent of people who try to do this on their own fail. There is a reason for that. Don’t waste your money. I have never felt so robbed by a company that made promises that they could not follow through on. They bait and switch. The consultation gave promise of having everything consolidated. Once I paid, the discussion was different. Because it takes over 30 days to get to that point… they refuse to refund my money once I point out that they lied. Now nothing is consolidated and I can’t get my money back, but I’m still expected to pay back student loans. Run fast and run far from this company.
